According to the AKS, the trade of goods in 2023 had the commercial deficit worth 5.1 billion euros, which points to a more clean trade deficit for 7.1% compared to 2022, where even this year there is a negative balance. The export total this year was 863.1m euros, while importing 5.9 billion euros. Export covers import for only 14.6%.
Comparing export data for Kosovo goods during 2022 to 2021, the figures show that we have an annual increase for 21.8%, which has further Kosovo's negative trade balance. While goods trade data for Kosovo Import in 2022 has marked an annual increase of around (20.4%) compared to the preceding 2021 year.
According to key export groups data: 22,30% make up basic metals and articles from them; 17.66% make up different products produced; 13.86% make up plastics, tires and items from them; 10,52 make up prepared foods, drinks and tobacco; 6.52% make up minerals; 4.77% make up textiles and textile articles; etc.
And according to key group data on import: 14,57% make up mineral products; 12.14% make up prepared foods, drinks and tobacco; 11,44% make up machinery and mechanical and electrical equipment; 10.00 make up basic metals and articles; 9,99 make up transport tools; 6.92% make up chemical industry products; etc.
Kosovo exports to EU countries reached 278.6m euros, or about 32.3% of total exports, with a drop of (-10.6%). The main partners for export of goods to the EU were: Germany (10.8%), Italy (4.5%), the Netherlands (3.2%), etc.
Kosovo's imports from EU countries were around 2.5 billion euros, or 43.0% of total imports, with an increase of 6.5%. Imports with high turnout were from: Germany (12.8%), Greece (5.6%), Italy (5.2%), etc.
Kosovo exports with CEFTA countries reached 343.6m euros, or 39.8% of total exports, with an increase of (3.0%). Key export partners from CEFTA countries were: Northern Macedonia (14.1%), Albania (13.3%), Serbia (5.8%), Montenegro (5,2%).
Imports from CEFTA countries reached 926.6m euros, or 15.7% of total imports, with a drop of (7.4%). The countries with the highest share in import was: Albania (5.5%), Northern Macedonia (5.3%), Serbia (3.4%).
Kosovo exports with other countries of the world reached 241.0m euros, or 27.9%. As more important partners from these countries for export were: US (12.3%) and Switzerland (8.8%).
Kosovo's imports with other countries of the world reached 2.4 billion euros, or 41.4%. The countries with the highest share in import in this group were: Turkey (14.8%) and China (11.0%).
