Armenia becomes the last state to recognise the Palestinian state, despite objections from Israel.
Yerevan supports the UN resolution for an immediate ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas ʹ the Palestinian group declared terrorist organisation by the United States and the European Union in Gaza and supports the solution of two states in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the statement said.
The Palestinian authority, exercising limited self - rule on the West Coast under Israeli occupation, welcomed Armenia's decision.
This recognition positively contributes to preserving the solution of two states that face systematic challenges, and promotes security, peace and stability for all parties involved”, the Palestinian Authority's presidency statement was said.
Yerevan's decision provoked anger in Israel, the state that invited the Armenian ambassador to the conversation.
After recognising Armenia of the Palestinian state, the Foreign Ministry invited the Armenian ambassador to Israel to a meeting for harsh rebuke”, it said in a statement to the media.
Spain, Ireland and Norway are among the Western states that have officially recognised the Palestinian state last month, prompting Israel to withdraw its ambassadors from Madrid, Dublin and Oslo.
