Serbia's “Parliament approved the country's new government last week. The staff and programme represent a further turn towards the ethnic right, anti-EU. The government includes ministers the US has already sanctioned for corruption, as well as open Russian sycophants. Not to mention a prime minister who led Serbia's defence ministry last year, when she was an accomplice in a terrorist attack in northern Kosovo, the kidnapping of Kosovo police and riots against NATO-led peacekeepers. He has already reiterated Serbia's desire for good relations with Russia and refusal to comply with EU sanctions against Moscow”, the Server writes.
According to him, Serbian President Vucinqi is leaving little room for those who argue Serbia is heading west.
The “in recent months it has met prominently with the potential dictators of Hungary and Azerbaijan, as well as with the very real authoritarians governing Belarus, Russia and China. Vucic is not hiding his ambition to extend his authority to 49% of Serb-controlled Bosnia and Herzegovina, all of Montenegro and northern Kosovo by Serb majority. According to him, however, officials in the United States and Europe are prepared to tolerate and even reward Vucinqi.
Some are afraid that any alternative could be worse. Others do not want to admit the failure of three years of easy walking towards Vuciqi. Still others imagine that the calls he scatters in the Western direction, Serbs using license plates and Kosovo identity documents can predict improvement in larger issues. American Professor Daniel Server, says self - deception is a major part of this story. “Vuchic has made clear that he will not implement agreements that the US and EU consider legally binding. Belgrade has rejected Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe. This in spite of his qualifications and the benefits Kosovo Serbs may have. U.S. and intelligent Europeans understand that Serb participation in NATO exercises generates a considerable flow of intelligence in Russia”, he said.
