The terrorist attack on Banjska on 24 September, where the hero, Afrim Bunnjak, was killed, can be repeated, while there are unresolved contexts between Kosovo and Serbia.
So says MP and Security Commission member from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Anton Quinn, while stressing that in the situation that these two states find, there are always risks of interethnic tensions and escalation.
Quinn points out that the possibility of Banisca repeating itself is not ruled out.
He says Serbia in direct co-operation with Moscow, in various forms and methods, could repeat similar cases to create political disadvantages at the negotiating table.
The “As long as there are unresolved contexts between Kosovo and Serbia, there is always a potential risk that in different forms, with different methods, to create political disadvantages at the negotiating table, from Serbia's authority, in co-operation with Moscow directly, create situations that could then create interethnic tensions and escalation. Started by the most affordable, manageable situations to open conflicts...
Interventions such as Banjska's case were not ruled out on September 24th, when with group interventions up to larger formations of the pre-milarian terrorist character, this information as an expression of the will of a part of the Serbian community's citizens and as if not co-ordination with state authorities take various actions”, says Quinn.
Moreover, during the interview, Quinn also speaks of compulsory military service, which he says does not seem to be the most appropriate solution until he mentioned high costs.
According to him, after reviewing the security strategy and conveying trends of Western countries, it has come to pass that Kosovo's young should have some basic skills in case of an extraordinary situation.
“We as the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), have already addressed this topic. We've got many criteria, rates, factors, opportunities and so on, always conveying trends to Western countries, which are now reviewing security strategies and looking for different forms like citizens should be in service to protect their homeland.
With all of this in mind, we think that our young people have some basic skills in case of an extraordinary situation. Those with knowledge received during a general education use them in extraordinary situations. We do not think forced military service is the best solution, considering that it has a high cost of”, says Quinn.
LDK MP Anton Quinn said they are ready for the new elections.
We are prepared for any situation. Experience, experience, our preparations, our readiness is of such a level that whatever situation is created in the regular elections or extraordinary elections, we will respond and be willing to enter the elections”, Quinn points out. /KP
