Memli Krasniqi: The possibility of distribution of the Assembly is exhausted

Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Memli Krasniqi has announced that the possibility of distributing the Assembly and announcing early elections has already been exhausted. Krasniqi, at a media conference, said calling and proposing The PDK for co-ordination among major political parties in this process has not found the necessary support.

“I can speculate on the reasons for the ruling party's declarative readiness to go to early elections, but I am really surprised by the unwillingness of opposition parties to do so, because failure to go to the election is effectively extending the mandate to current power. Let me reiterate that the Democratic Party of Kosovo has always been and is always ready for any option that allows early elections and the removal of this government”, the head of the government has indicated. Krasniqi stressed that even for The PDK's resignation has been the preferred way of going to the elections, but the real possibility on the table was just the distribution of the Assembly.

Therefore, seeing the great need for the country to go to the elections, it was more important to us than the way it is. During this period, The PDK has testified to its seriousness to end misgovernance and its readiness for early elections in many cases. That's what we witnessed when we nominated Prime Minister Bedri Hamza's candidate on March 27th of this year. That's what we witnessed on Friday, May 24th, when the PDK appeared in the Assembly Hall to respond to the AAK resolution on the government's dismissal or resignation. This we resurfaced for the same time even through the last letter I sent to the leaders of the Vetevendosje Movement, the Democratic League of Kosovo, and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo”, he said.

Krasniqi said added commitment The PDK to cut the Kurti Government mandate, due to state stagnation at all levels and functions, before it is a party requirement, is a civic need.

Over the past three years, we are witnessing a major economic stagnation, an increase in prices that have resulted in the worsening welfare of citizens, diplomatic isolation spread with punitive measures against our country, and especially recently, with Kosovo's failure to join the Council of Europe, aggression highlighted in education and health, and to the large migration of citizens<1>, he added. For this reason, I also accepted Prime Minister Kurti's invitation to the 13 May meeting, making it clear that the PDK meets only to discuss the date of the new elections. You all know the epilogue of that meeting: The PDK emerged with its stance and even proposed two concrete dates for early elections”, Krasniqi said.

Krasniqi congratulated that by the end of the regular mandate of the Kurti 2 government, Kosovo and its citizens will not receive any new shocks, both inside and outside, which would have serious and long-term consequences.

Kosovo is wasting valuable time, important processes and valuable friends as a result of this governing mentality. We are convinced that the end of this government would mean a new beginning for our country. Unfortunately, our colleagues from opposition parties were not ready as we were. They may need more time, but the time under this government is going to the detriment of civic interest”, the leader said. PDK. Krasniqi said the Democratic Party of Kosovo will continue to be the most powerful opposition voice in the country, rejecting the wrong policies of this government.

“at the same time, we will continue to offer the best alternative to Kosovo's citizens, through vision and our candidate's programme for prime minister, Bedri Hamza. An alternative that gives Kosovo a responsible and competent government, which at the centre puts citizen interest, which Kosovo so badly needs today”, it concluded.
