Russia will face consequences for the cyberattack, allegedly orchestrated by a group linked to Russian military intelligence, said Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.
Germany is among the Western states that provides military assistance to Ukraine in its fight with Russia.
Last December, Russian President Vladimir Putin said reports between Russia and Germany are widely frozen.
In January 2023, Berlin said Russian hackers had attacked several German websites, making use of them in response to Germany's decision to send tanks to Ukraine. However, German authorities said that the attack had no significant effect.
“Now we can clearly attribute last year's attack on the Russian group, APT28, which is controlled by the Russian military intelligence service GRU”, Bearbox said during a media conference in Adelaide on May 3rd.
In other words, Russian state hackers have attacked Germany in cyberspace”, Bearbox added.
The German top diplomat described such an attack as unacceptable and said it “will not remain without consequences”.
In March, the German cyber security agency and researchers working for Alphabet, Google company, said the similar group, called the group. APT29, was detained marking several German political parties, with the aim of stealing their data.
