Led by the United Nations Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on Prevention and Punishment of Genocide Crime,

Referring to Security Council Resolution 819 of April 16, 1993, which proclaims Srebrenica a safe area, Resolution 827 of May 25, 1993 for the establishment of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (“ICTY”) and December 22, 2010, Resolution 1966 for the establishment of the remaining International Mechanism for Criminal Court,

Further recalling all TPNJ decisions, and especially eight containing sentences for genocide crime against Bosnian Muslims committed in Srebrenica in 1995, especially the decision of the TPNJ Chamber, April 19th 2004 (Prosecutor against Krstic ), the International Mechanism left for the Chamber of Criminal Courts Appeals, June 8, 2021 (Procuror Against Mladic), the Act of the remaining International Mechanism for the House of Criminal Courts of March 2019 (Procuror Against Karadzic and Karadzic) , the International Court of Justice (GJND) of February 26, 2007, which ruled that acts committed in Srebrenica constitute genocide acts,

Reconfirming his strong opposition to genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, or other violations of international human rights and international human rights law, and stressing in this context the responsibility of states to end impunity and, for this purpose, to investigate and investigate fully and prosecute, in line with their respective international legal obligations and domestic legislation, those responsible for such acts, to avoid repeating them, and to seek lasting peace, justice and reconciliation, which require participation of victims as well as their key members, and that their families are key members.

Welcoming the significant progress made by international courts in recent years in the fight against impunity and ensuring responsibility for genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and other unprecedented crimes committed through the international criminal justice system,

In that sense, he recognises the ICTY's special contribution and emphasises the importance of the international community's willingness to take collective action through the Security Council, in accordance with the Charter, and in case of further ensuring the responsibility and prevention of genocide.

Taking into account the role of the Secretary General's special advisers for the Prevention of Genocide and Responsibility for Protection; and stressing the importance of regular information on human rights violations and international humanitarian law, as well as hate speech and promotion of early awareness of possible genocide,

Also noting that prosecution of persons responsible for genocide and other international crimes in national justice systems, including the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and I The ICTY, as well as the remaining International Mechanism for Criminal Court, remains crucial to the process of national reconciliation and the restoration and maintenance of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina, further acknowledging that strong regional co-operation among state prosecutors is essential for promoting peace, justice, truth and reconciliation among countries in the region,

Noting that 2025 will mark the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, in which they lost at least 8,372 lives, thousands of displaced people and families and destroyed communities,

) set to announce July 11th as the International Day of Reflection and Memory of Genocide in Srebrenica in 1995, which will be celebrated annually;

He unreservedly condemns any denial of genocide in Srebrenica as a historic event and calls on member states to preserve proven facts, including through their educational systems, developing appropriate programmes, even as a sign of memory, with the aim of preventing denial and distorting and showing genocide in the future;

He also unreservedly condemns actions praising war crimes convicts, crimes against humanity and genocide by international courts, including those responsible for the genocide in Srebrenica;

The emphasis is on completing the process of finding and identifying the remaining victims of the Srebrenica genocide and their dignified burial and calling for the continuation of the prosecution of those genocide authors in Srebrenica who have not yet faced justice;

It calls on all states to fully respect their obligations under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, as is applicable, and the international custom of preventing and punishing genocide, by respecting the respective decisions of the JND,

The UN requires the Secretary General to create an information programme entitled “Genocide in Srebrenica and the United Nations”, starting with his activities in preparation for the 30th anniversary in 2025, and further urging the Secretary General to draw the attention of all member states, United Nations systems organisations and civil society organisations for proper respect,

) calls on all member states, organisations of the United Nations system, other international and regional organisations and civil society, including nongovernmental organisations, academic institutions and other relevant participants to mark International Day, including commemorations and specific activities to commemorate and honour victims of the 1995 genocide in Srebrenica, as well as relevant educational and public awareness activities.
