The United States remains strongly committed to the Prespa Agreement and the integration of northern Macedonia into Euro-Atlantic institutions, a State Department representative said after elections held on May 8th.
The US ministry representative's stance came after a question by Greek correspondents in Washington, as the new president violated the Prespa Agreement, not mentioning the constitutional name during its oath.
The United States of America “remains strongly committed to the Prespa Agreement and the Euro-Atlantic integration of Northern Macedonia. With the formation of the new government and the election of the prime minister, we will continue to reinforce the importance of respecting international agreements and the benefits of full membership in the European Union”, spokeswoman Lena Argiri said in a statement.
