Make Your Decision U n EFA: At Euro-2024, only the captain will communicate with the judge

U n EFA has decided that in the final matches of the European Championship “German 2024” the right to speak and discuss a decision with the match referee will only have the captains of participating teams in “EURO 2024” U arbitration director EFA, Roberto Rosentti, has written this before [...]
U arbitration director EFA, Roberto Rosentti, by means of an open letter, has explained this decision in front of the “Euro 2024” finals, which was published in UEFA.com.
Being an arbitrator in modern football is very difficult. Referee takes between 200 and 250 match decisions, which is one in 22 seconds, in difficult and sometimes questionable situations, under great pressure, each being examined and revised by many different views by fans and experts.
We want judges with strong personality to make decisions, which sometimes may be unpopular in the field, but, at the same time, we want them to be more open and explain what led to certain decisions.
Referees receive a lot of information from the system WAR and we are willing to talk and share more details with players and trainers to help them understand how a decision has been made.
Explaining a decision for 22 players is impossible for a judge. This can lead to a breakdown in communication, with a beautiful game that quickly turns into very ugly.
The behavioral theme of players and trainers is a very important topic in football. In the workshop with U finalists EFA Euro2024 in April, the trainers agreed to work more towards “Fair Play”, while this issue was also one of the main topics at the latest meeting of the U Football Board. EFA in Nion. Together, trainers and players welcomed and strongly supported our new approach as a common goal of managing the game.
Explaining a decision for the 22 players in a match is impossible for an arbitrator, and this could lead to communication breakdown, and we all agree that this affects the image of a beautiful soccer game.
Of course, some decisions will always be discussed. To improve this aspect, however, we at UEFA want referees to explain more their decisions to all teams participating in the U. EPO 2024.
