Whenever it rains, many parts of Pristina are blocked by water, especially some roads where cars cannot pass. Such a situation was seen earlier this week, where heavy rain blocked several cars on the streets and also parts of the capital's neighborhoods, causing damage to public and private property.
The director for Security and Emergency in the Pristina municipality, Lulzim Fushtica, has said they are taking all real-time actions since there's a change like they were at the beginning of the week, to intervene in record-time for damage repair.
We've had extreme weather episodes especially at the beginning of the week, which means Monday and Tuesday, and therefore we've made the intervention in the capital as a result of heavy rainfall in the short run. But we should also consider the infrastructure that is being improved and as such we are all custody teams that we have had with the professional fire brigade, with companies contracted by the director of Security and Emergency for emergency interventions and Kosovo police and other teams. We've been intervened and sabotaged all the damage in a very short time term”, Fushtica said.
Furthermore, he said there are observations of the situation and are willing to intervene in the event any situations arise where the results can cause damage.
“We are watching the situation regarding the resources and other natural disasters that may occur the following days or weeks. It is known that even last year we have had such a situation and are following it, taking all measures to minimize the damage, because we cannot prevent natural disasters, unfortunately we cannot stop the rain, we cannot stop the hail, but to minimize, to have effective plans in place”, he stressed.
Fushtica has also spoken of the capital police, which he has said is soon expected to be functional.
The capital's “Police Department is the director of the capital's police is established within the framework of the Kosovo Police, we are in the phase of co-operation with the Kosovo Police to find a building where the capital's police directorate will be established and very soon to have its own building and to have all structures that are approved by the Ministry of Interior Affairs”, Fushtica has said. / EO
