The former legend of Barcelona and Brazil, Dani Alves, reportedly is planning a surprising return to professional football despite his conviction for rape.
The 40-year-old was sentenced to four and a half years in prison in February, after being convicted of violating a woman at a nightclub in Spain in 2022.
Alves was also forced to pay 150,000 euros in compensation to the victim, after being convicted by a court in Spain.
However, Alves has spent only four weeks within four walls, after he paid 850 thousand euros to be released on parole from prison.
He is hoping after an appeal to restore his public image, according to what the Spanish daily reports El Pais.
It has also been claimed that the former Brazilian promoter aims to return to professional football, in case his appeal turns out to be successful.
Spanish journalist Jesus Garcia Bueno has reported that Alves does not expect to return to the field as a player, but may look for a role in technical staff.
Alves has played 247 matches for Barcelona from 2008 to 2016, and is one of the most decorated players in football history, having won six La Ligas titles and three times the Champions League during his time at the Cump Noué.
