Italian KFOR members have inspected the area of toxic industrial materials, known as “Eurostheel”, in Pec.
The inspection was conducted by KFOR in co-operation even with Kosovo institutions, including the civil structure for environmental protection and urban planning, the Agency for Emergency Management, the Kosovo Police and the KSF.
The inspection was conducted under the KFOR monitoring and control programme in areas where it was reported on potentially harmful health substances.
“Italian specialists verified the correct closing of barrels in the area and continued analyzing data. The measurements were then compared to the earlier data taken to assess trends and identify any potential environmental damage. The result confirmed that no health risks were detected”, a KFOR communiqué said.
