Crime in Ferizaj: Entirely Enhancing Social Work Centers Needs

yesterday's 21-year-old murder in Ferizaj shocked all Kosovo citizens. Erona Cokli, 21, was allegedly killed by her former husband at the Social Work Centre, where she considers security should be on the level. Until this case highlighted irregularities related to security issues in these centres.

Former director of the Centre for Social Work (QPS) in Pristina, Webi Mujku said that the physical security of clients and staff is lacking in these institutions.

He targeted many cases when the QPS staff faced physical attacks and armed threats due to lack of control.

The music requires urgent steps in this regard, which mentions the need for physical security and a new regulation.

The social work center lacks the physical security of customers and staff, who work there, and in many cases, the staff of the Center for Social Work is faced with physical assaults, threatened with knives, pistols and other items because there is a lack of control, the detectors, physical control. Cases of murder against women in Kosovo are frequent. Among the reasons leading up to this act, Mujk mentions that men even after separation view women as their property.

And for yesterday's murder, which was reportedly due to the dispute over taking care of their child for one year, Mujku said the child's best interest was to stay with the mother.

Mujku points out that the 15-year-old difference between the owner and the victim may have contributed to yesterday's act.

In most cases men after separation still regard women as their property. They don't want to see that he's moving freely, that he's dating others, and they're being followed in different forms. They're going through photos, social networks and they don't agree with themselves that a child is entrusted to a mother, considering that the child is always the blood of his father, father's family and that it's up to them... if we're talking about a child of one year old, of course that the child's best interest is to stay with the mother, and that's the mother who gives him security, well-being, control, better education... In this case the age difference has been enormous, and I think this has also been one of the problems, because a 15-year difference in marriage, of course, has its own reasons, its consequences that can push it to such a case”, potencoi Mujku.

Similarly, sociologist Genc Xerxa thinks that the patriarchal system still functions in Kosovo, where men view their wives as captives. Among the causes leading up to murder, Xrsxa mentions the system of values, the emancipation of society and the lameness of institutions for providing social work centres.
