CNN: Direct state-state attacks between Israel and Iran have “finished”

A regional source of intelligence that had knowledge of Iran's possible response to Friday's attack, which was carried out by Israel according to an American official, said the state-run attacks between the two enemies had “finished”.

The source, which was not authorised to speak publicly, spoke to CNN under the condition of anonymity about two and a half hours after CNN reported the attacks for the first time.

The source said that, with his knowledge, Iran was not expected to respond to attacks but gave no reason.

Iranian government officials have so far sought to downplay the impact of Friday's attack.

The Israeli Army has not commented and Iran has not identified the source of the attack.
