Dora Bakoyannis, the head of the Greek delegation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), which is also reporting on Kosovo's admission to the Council of Europe, has said it cannot connect the Cyprus issue with that of Kosovo in any way, stressing that there are two different issues.
Bakoyannis, in a conversation for the Greek newspaper “Polittis”, dismissed criticism that the creation of a precedent for the other separatist “entities” following approval by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (APKE) of its proposal regarding Kosovo's admission to the Council of Europe was absolutely groundless, claiming it was attacked by the right extreme and added that President Nikos Christoulides of the Republic of Cyprus “well knows that the issue has nothing to Cyprus<6>
Reference to the International Court of Justice's decision on Kosovo, Bakojannis said the Cyprus issue cannot be linked to that of Kosovo, stressing there are two different issues.
Greece's former foreign minister argued that in Cyprus there is a “invasion and invasion” and that Kosovo has no historical connection with it.
Bakoyannis has said that if there was a decision on Kosovo's status, she would not take such a report, as her stance accords with that of her country that does not recognise Kosovo.
She has also stressed that the Kosovo report concerns only human rights.
Responding to a question about the Cyprus issue, the rapporteur for Kosovo's admission to the KiE addressed Ankara, stating that <x0-negotiations could resume based on UN resolutions”.
