Fenerbahce football players were attacked by Trabzonspor fans after the end of the match on scenes that were frightening as revolted local fans ended up in the green field to settle their scores with guest players, who were celebrating victory 3:2 on the trip.
Club football players from Istanbul tried to defend themselves by fighting with some fans, but then the number of these increased and the number needed security and police intervention to enable footballers to flee to the dressing rooms.
The Trabzonspor awaits a considerable punishment for the occasion, while the Turkish Football Federation condemned the chaos at the stadium last night, where several Fenerbahce footballers remained injured.
What happened in football, which is a friendship, peace and brotherhood game, is never acceptable. To prevent these incidents from being repeated, no one should doubt that following the outcome of the investigation into the incidents, the necessary criminal sanctions will be implemented so that these incidents do not repeat”, the Turkish Federation wrote on its official social networking site.
Very soon decisions are expected to arise about the penalty Trabzonspor will take.
