“Was a dream”, 17-year-old Barcelona star made history after debut with Spain

Although Spain ended up losing 1-0 from Colombia in London, it was a night to remember for Pau Cubbars, whose vortex went on when he made his international debut.

The 17-year-old replaced Aymeric Laporte in the 83rd minute, and doing so became the youngest defender ever to play for La Rojare, breaking the record previously held by Sergio Ramos.

He is also the second most young player ever to debunk Spain's first team, following Barcelona team friend Lamine Yamal.

Cubars was pleased with his debut in London and told the media after the match.

I'm very proud of my debut because it was a dream I've had since I was a kid.”

I am grateful for the coach's trust and will try to make the most of it by giving my best. I always try to be me and play” quietly, Barcelona's defender is over.

Cubars will have the opportunity to make his second appearance during next week's friendly with Brazil in Santiago Bernabeu, and if he continues to impress Barcelona from now until the end of the season, he may be at this summer's European Championship.
