The presence of Alliance for the Future of Kosovo MP, Paul Lekaj, at the Assembly of the Constitutional Commission on State Reserves on Tuesday, has raised laughter among MPs.
This is after Lekaj was convicted and sentenced by the Court to 3 years and 8 months in prison over the execution of 53m euros for the company “Bechtel & Enka”, which was contracted to build the “Arba Xhaferi” highway.
Was it a question that Democratic League of Kosovo MP Valentina Buxaku-Rejep addressed to his colleague, Lekaj?
The “even slightly” was Lekaj's response, followed by laughter from other MPs.
Former Minister of Infrastructure Pal Lekaj has been sentenced to 3 years and eight months in effective prison over the 53m-euro fee Kosovo Government had paid “Bechtel-Enka” for extending the completion deadline for the work on the Zhaferi highway.
Lekaj has also been pronounced a supplementary sentence prohibiting public office activity in public administration for three years and six months.
Meanwhile, his lawyer, Musa Damati, has declared he will appeal the verdict.
