US forces have carried out air strikes against five missiles in Yemen on Sunday, the American Army said, announcing that one of the missiles was designed for ground attacks, as well as others to target ships at the Red Sea.
The attacks came a day after the forces of the United States and Great Britain carried out new air strikes against Iranian targets by hitting 36 targets of the rebel group Huth in Yemen in response to the rebel attacks on ships.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in social networks that American forces carried out a “self-defence attack against a floating rocket” that was designed for ground attack and later hit “four floating missiles that were prepared to launch against ships at the Red Sea”.
US forces “identified missiles in areas controlled by Yemen's Hüths and determined that they posed an immediate threat to American Navy ships and commercial ships in the region”, CENTCOM added.
The Huths began targeting ships at the Red Sea in November last year, saying they were striking ships linked to Israel and, according to them, are doing so in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
The war between Israel and Hamas ʹ the Palestinian group declared terrorist organisations by the US and the European Union has started on October 7, 2023, following Hamas' attack in southern Israel.
