The American Economic Oda in Kosovo praises the efforts of Kosovo institutions to accelerate the country's economic growth, however, these efforts continue to have limited effect on sustainable economic growth. Under such circumstances, Oda American estimates that the image that Kosovo enjoys and the lack of a pro-active approach to promoting opportunities to attract investments are among the factors that enable Kosovo's radical economic transformation.

The media communiqué says Oda American strongly believes that Kosovo should be free as soon as possible from conflict and instability.

The latest “Report of the International Crisis Group, which cites Kosovo as one of the ten countries at risk for deadly conflict or passage during 2024, further exacerbates the negative perception of Kosovo, which fails to attract foreign quality investments. Kosovo institutions should understand the importance of concluding the agreement with Serbia, as a constant appeal to Kosovo's strategic international partners”, the report said.

It also says that: “as a powerful agent of the free movement of people, goods, services and capital, the American Oda positively recognises steps taken by Kosovo and Serbia recently for recognition of vehicle license plates, praising that the next important step would be to remove barriers in trade between the two states, paving the way for accelerated economic development. Therefore, the American Oda reiterates its call for the Government of Kosovo to remove current measures which prohibit the entry of final products from Serbia, which mainly hit the commercial interests of Kosovo's partner states, including the United States of America. The removal of trade barriers would make Kosovo more attractive to foreign investors, since they consider opportunities that are offered from access to larger markets and profit from the economies of the scale to production and distribution.

Further in the communiqué, Oda America recalls that in the past three decades, Kosovo has made a major breakthrough, thanks to the co-ordination of its efforts with international partners, such as the United States and the European Union.

“Therefore, co-ordination of all goals aimed at empowering Kosovo's subjectivity must continue to be made in close co-ordination with international partners, including implementation of the recently approved regulation by the Kosovo Central Bank for Pre-determable Operations, as well as the requirement for extending its specific provisions, with the aim of allowing necessary preparations for implementation and elimination of possible negative”, it says.

The communiqué says that: “in the spirit of communication and co-operation, the American Oda urges institutions of legislative and executive branches of the Republic of Kosovo to promote sincere public-private dialogue, as important tools for the formation and implementation of policies, growth and economic development, regulatory and efficiency reforms, as well as increased public trust in the government”.

Finally, the American Economic Oda called for addressing the above recommendations to achieve radical change in the welfare and performance of a state, including gross domestic product, human development index and global competitiveness index.
