Some media reported that investigators were questioning a man from central Pennsylvania today about the murder of Thompson last week.
Investigators received information about the suspect after an employee at a McDonald's in Altoona noticed that he looked like a man caught by surveillance cameras near the murder scene, CNN reported.
The television network reports that police found the suspects a weapon, a silencer and forged documents.
According to CNN, one of the ID cards had the same name that the suspect used when he entered a hotel in Manhattan prior to the attack.
New York Mayor Eric Adams said on Saturday that a suspect in Thompson's murder has been identified, the New York Post reported.
Thompson, 50, who became a security executive at United Health in April 2021, was shot in the back Wednesday in a targeted attack by a masked gunman, police said.
The murder occurred just prior to the company's annual investor conference at the Hilton Hotel in the Sixth Avenue in New York.
Police say the assailant left on an electric bicycle after the attack. The motive for the attack is still unknown. /euronews. al
