“Reducing as a result of economic development”, Bajrami: Being ashamed, we're living here.

Democratic League of Kosovo MP Hykmete Bajrami has asked the chief executive chief of the System Operator, Transition and Kosovo Electricity Market (KOSTT) Eventar Zeqiri, who is not ashamed of the declaration that lack of electricity is due to the network's load due to economic growth of years [...]
“We are living here, we are residents not correspondents. This shows how low you've been trying to hide the failures of four years”, it wrote on the social platform, Facebook.
According to her, facts and official data point to the very opposite of claims of the type that there is economic growth in the country.
“Energy spending from households accounts for about 60% of the total, while spending from business is 39.8%, compared to spending from businesses is slightly lower than in 2020 when it was 39.9%. So there's no charge from the economy”.
The reductions, according to it, are not the result of economic growth, but of lack of planning and investment from government institutions.
“Four years of zero investment in generation capacity, pro-Import electricity policy including efficiency policies”, it has added.
Many Kosovo municipalities are facing temporary reductions of electricity, which will last even next week, while Kosovo authorities cannot offer solutions to the issue, while the reasons being articulating are different and more banal.
Recently at a media conference, chief executive of the System Operator, Transition and Kosovo Electricity Market (KOSTT) Eventar Zeqiri, estimated that the lack of electricity is not due to its lack of production, but as a result of the extraordinary “burden on the network.
And this unaffordable burden, according to the chief chief, came as a result of the <x0 economic development that took place in recent years”, which has therefore increased the demand for electricity.
“The electro-energenetic system is facing tremendous burdens as a result of economic development that has occurred in recent years”, he said at a news conference.
Zeqiri announced citizens that electricity production is at the maximum and that lack of energy is being imported from abroad.
“We are operating four blocks, except for a block that is not functioning. Also, KESCO as the manager for supply is importing missing energy, and COSTT is exploiting all its balance capacity with Albania that we have available. So it's not about lack of energy, it's about a load that's touched the maximum corner of grid”, he explains.
Even Economy Minister Artane Rizvanolli argued that the reductions in electricity are due to increased consumer numbers in the electromagnetic network, without offering any concrete solutions to the situation.
According to her in the last three years on the grid, over 600,000 new consumers have been locked in, which has charged the network.
“You should remember that the number of new constructions, the number of new consumers in Kosovo in recent years has been extremely high, 60 thousand new households have been locked in the system for the last three years and 8 thousand and 500 businesses”.
She mentioned, among other things, the holiday season.
“Fundvit is also characterised, not only in Kosovo, but in the entire region as well in Europe, with a rise of consumption”.
Meanwhile, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti requested that Kosovo citizens reduce electricity consumption, especially at the time of peak, without offering any choice except for KEDS' COST to have “intensive dedication on the ground” for resolving the network's technical problems.
“Like any preliminary winter, we urge citizens to rationalise electricity consumption, especially during the hours of 1600 to midnight for the sake of supply”, he said on Friday, following outstanding electricity shortages in many Kosovo municipalities.
