The European Union has said it regrets the failure of the Serbian List by the Central Election Commission.
The CEC has decided on Monday not to certified the Serbian List. The nationalist calls by the president of the Serbian List in Kosovo, Zlatan Ellek, made during the election list presentation have been praised.
The EU has said for TIME that the certificate process “should be based on standards and legal procedures, not political consideration”.
All qualified candidates should be able to participate in free and fair elections, in full compliance with Kosovo law and its equal implementation. The certificate process should be based on legal standards and procedures in line with law in force, not political considerations. The EU stresses that the election process should be transparent, reliable and without political interference”, the EU's response said.
The EU expects the CEC and its members to provide “with all relevant mechanisms a comprehensive, reliable and transparent electoral process, enabling Kosovo voters to clearly express their selection”.
The US has reacted to the CEC's decision, which has expressed concern over the decision.
German Ambassador to Kosovo Jorn Rohde, who said he shares concern with the US, has also reacted.
