The Democratic League of Kosovo MP has criticised Government over the air situation in our country.
According to Bajrami at the time when the government boasts”progress” in each area, the latest World Bank report “Cunty Climate and Development Report (CCDR) shows the sad reality they are trying to ignore.
Bajrami has further indicated that according to the World Bank, Kosovo is under pressure of climate and environmental risks:
The air pollution is killing us: According to the BB report, air pollution causes about 760 premature deaths annually, while the health costs caused by this pollution amount to $310m, or 4.7% of GDP. Meanwhile, 16% of the country's territory is under high risk from forest fires, while 37% of the country's territory is under medium risk from forest fires. Floods and other natural disasters are causing major damage and are expected to deteriorate away Kosovo also suffers from energy poverty: The report points out that about 22% of households spend more than 10% of their energy revenues, while over 40% of households cannot warm their homes enough. The country continues to depend on the energy produced by lignite, and thermal power plants are extremely old and not efficient, Bajrami has written.
Bajrami says the report also highlights the vulnerability of the economy, where, among other things, it says:
• Sectors such as agriculture and forests, which are vital to many rural families, are being reduced by floods and droughts, and poverty is growing in these areas.
That's the reality the government never talks about. But know that while they speak empty words about bbkins “progress”, creditable institutions like the World Bank and their data show that our country is in danger of coal dependence, we face energy poverty and the government is failing to address climate and social emergencies. Don't forget for four years the Kurti II Government has available 12 billion Euro budgets, our taxes, and it hasn't left a positive sign in this country, so what to say about renewable energy, zero capacity built, so the time to look for accounts is now, she said.
We cannot accept that our health and welfare are exchanged with propaganda, the LDK deputy has added further.
