In 2023, we warned that the government's reckless push for a new Security Council law would undermine Kosovo's national security and violate the constitution. The president of Kosovo has already echoed those concerns, turning the law into Parliament!
Let's be clear: this is not just politics. It's a big security hazard! That's why:
) Distract of institutional foundations: The law dismantles the powerful structure of the National Security Council that we created after independence with support from the US and NATO, erasing the progress of decades and institutional memory.
The Prime Minister's Absolute Control: This legislation centralizes power dangerously, giving the prime minister direct authority over regulations, human resource issues, even the right to punish and erase data. Security oversight needs control and balance, not authoritarian overpassion!
) employee rights and security risks: The provisions of the bill harm the faithful employees of the Secretariat, who have been handling classified information for years, removing their protections and potentially endangering our national secrets.
) bureaucratic chaos: More bureaucracy, unnecessary reappointed of roles and a badly planned restructuring will leave our institutions weakened and unable to respond to new threats.
Kosovo deserves #best: Our state must improve and strengthen its institutions, not destroy them and start over. This law is a step back, not forward!
This is a critical moment for Kosovo's future. We cannot allow government “ad hoc” and poor planning to compromise our security and sovereignty.
) Our institutions deserve protection, and national security should not be played. Let's protect our constitution and the future of our country. )
