Kosovo's Specialised Chambers have announced that the scheduled hearings for November 14th and 15th in the trial of Sabit Januzi, Ismet Bahitari and Haxhi Shala will not be held following the party's request.
The accused, Sabit Januzi, Ismet Bahitari and Haxhi Shala are charged with obstructing official persons in carrying out their duties and intimidation during criminal procedures.
According to the indictment, between April 5th and April 12, 2023, they have been accused of attempting to prevent a witness from bearing witness in official processes, using serious threats and promises of gifts or other benefits.
After the parties' request in this court case, the hearings scheduled on November 14th and 15th in the trial of Sabit Januzi, Ismet Bahitari and Haxhi Shala will not be held. The accused are accused of obstructing official persons in performing official duties and intimidation during criminal procedures. Concretically, the indictment claims that between April 5th 2023 and April 12, 2023, led by Mr. Shala, Mr. Januzi and Mr. The host each met with a witness on two occasions to encourage him to withdraw testimony, or not to testify in the official processes before the DHSK, including through serious threat and promise of gift, or for some other form of profit”, the DHSK report said.
In this regard, Sabit Januzi and Ismet Bahtiari were arrested in October 2023 and have declared their innocence to the charges.
Meanwhile, Haxhi Shala was arrested in December 2023, and during his first appearance, he was not declared guilty to himself later plead innocent of all charges.
A request for the unification of their cases was submitted by the Special Prosecutor's Office (ZPS) on December 13th, 2023, which was approved by the trial judge on February 8, 2024.
