Russian Football Union (RFU) has been excluded from FIFA and U competitions EFA since Russia began invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
This means that neither male nor female teams can play in the World Cup or the European Championship. Local clubs can't play UEFA races as well.
Similar restrictions have been applied in other sports, with some sports allowing individual contestants to compete under a neutral flag or, in the case of the Olympics, under the flag of the Individual Athletics (AIN).
Now, according to the Russian newspaper MatchTV, FIFA and UEFA have decided to support Russia's ban from competitions worldwide until the 2026 World Cup.
That means they will not be able to enter the qualifying process, with a group containing a team less as a result.
In 2022, Russia arrived at play-off for World Cup qualifications and was facing Poland in March. However, the match was cancelled after Russia's ban, and the Polish won the transition to the next round.
U n EFA distributed a pamphlet on November 11th, saying 192 Group phase matches will be held in World Cup qualifications 2026, effectively guaranteeing their expulsion from the tournament.
All 54 other U-related countries EFAs have entered lots. Teams that have qualified at the playoffs of the League of Nations will be placed in the first vase, but because of their participation in that race, they will not compete in qualifying until September.
How will the qualifying lot work? U n EFA for World Cup 2026?
