The presidency for Disaster Management and Emergency Management said the earthquake had the power of 5.9 degrees and registered in the province's Kale town of Malatya, reports the agency “Associated Press”.
In Diyarbakir, people fled their homes in panic, the report said.
Syria's state news agency said the earthquake was felt in the Hasakka provinces, Deir Al Zor and Aleppo.
