UP Health Professor Fatime Arneliu-Qasaj said that the main causes of doctors' flight are insufficient wages, small opportunities for career progress and poor specialisation programmes. While friends and family are two factors that keep doctors in Kosovo.
Arnliu-Qasaj said that concern has been the absence of doctors who graduate from Kosovo over the years, as well as those who migrate abroad.
We all know that they are a pillar of the health system around the world. Their shortages have made them a priority in the global state agenda”.
When we talk about the number of doctors, we see that Kosovo has 3.1 doctors for 100 residents who are higher than the high-income average countries, but less than the average of EU countries”.
The doctor's “Oda is concerned with keeping this number because the data with graduates is missing in Kosovo and the number of doctors who migrate is missing. We've been looking for these numbers, but we couldn't find them at the Ministry of Education and other universities”.
“In the absence of these data, we have noticed that we have increased trend contracts given to you for work abroad. The Oda of Kosovo doctors has seen the factors affecting the distribution of doctors and interconnection. Some of the most frequent reasons are the workload, sufficient wages, inadequate treatment, lack of equipment, impossible to raise to career”.
On the other hand, she has said that another trend has been observed that people with higher achievements are going abroad.
“people with higher achievements are going abroad. Men's doctors have reported higher levels of dysast. As income increases, there is a difference. Social networks are also a burden to doctors. Many have said that communication with patients out of time on social networking has been a burden. Factors affecting doctor migration are insufficient wages. A career priority, poor specialization programs”.
