Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has given his version of the EU Report, which he accepted today by European Union Office chief in Kosovo Ambassador Aivo Ora.
The prime minister's office through a communique for the media says that according to the EU Report, Kosovo has been walking back, but progress has been noted in almost all areas.
“On its main points, the EU Report on Kosovo positively recognises visa liberalisation as a step expected to improve the free movement of Kosovo citizens in the Schengen area. He praises Kosovo's commitment to compliance with EU policies, from which it sets out line with EU foreign policy a step reflecting commitment to co-operation and full integration into the European family”.
In addition, this year's report also estimates Kosovo's active commitment to implementing the Development Plan, the Development of Reforms, as well as its commitment to promoting regional co-operation in unblocking CEFTA decision-making with new agreements strengthening trade and economic ties within the region.
“Strengthening the legal framework in fighting corruption and organised crime is also positively assessed as the government's priority for a rule of law. Election reforms, as well as improved free market conditions and support for entrepreneurs that help boost competition and attract foreign investment. The report notes that there has been no going back to any of the key areas of reform, while progress has been noted in almost all areas, evidence of the government's commitment to progress and continued progress”, said the communique.
The prime minister welcomed the European Union's recommendations and stressed that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo remains committed on the road to reforms.
