Christopher Hill, the US ambassador to Serbia, has recently talked about dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, reaffirming the United States' commitment to normalising relations between the two countries.
In an interview for “N1”, Hill reflected on his experiences during the Kosovo war, including his discussions with former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic and stressed the importance of continuing talks between the two countries.
When I returned to Serbia more than 20 years later, I was surprised that the issue remained as current as the last time I took an interest in it. Meanwhile, I have worked in many other countries around the world, I have been to the Middle East, East Asia, and when I have seen that the Kosovo issue is still a source of great tension...”.
He reiterated the need for normalisation between Serbia and Kosovo.
My personal view and I am happy to say that they agree with me many countries, including the EU, who have taken on the difficult task of helping dialogue, my personal position is that we need normalisation between Serbia and Kosovo. So that the border is not a border that separates two countries but a limit that facilitates communication. It is the best for all, including the people of Kosovo and the people of Serbia”Ambassador Hill said.
