According to the state electoral commission's preliminary results, GERB has won 26.08 per cent of the vote.
The reformist party, we continue the amendment, has come in second with 14.76 per cent of the vote, the commission said on Monday, after counting more than 82 per cent of the vote.
The ultra-nationalist party, the Resurrection, has emerged third with 13.8 per cent of the vote.
Sunday's elections, the seventh in four years, have been held as a result of the Bulgarian political parties' failure to form a coalition government after the June 9th elections.
GERB leader Boyko Borissov has thanked voters Monday for their support, and has said his party will form the new Government.
“We will work together with everyone except the revival”, he said.
Bulgaria has been led by short-lived governments since 2020, when protests have helped end the coalition led by the GERB party.
Experts say Bulgaria needs a period of stability -- a government that functions properly -- in order to increase European Union funds, and initiate procedures for adoption of euro currency.
Plans to enter the Eurozone have been postponed twice, due to the failure of the target to cut inflation.
Many voters have said they worry about the possibility of many uncertainty in the future. REL
