Barcelona coach Xavi Hernández has said that the club has a bright future with or without it at the top following Wednesday's 4-2 defeat in the quarterfinals of the King's Cup on the Aztec Club.
Loss in San Mamés came only 10 days after Barca was defeated 4-1 from Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup final, leaving their hopes for trophy this season in La League and the Champions League.
Despite his disappointment with the outcome, however, Xavi says he is proud of the team's young, Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsí, Hector Fort and Marc Guiu all presented to Bilbaos.
All trainers in big clubs depend on trophies, but I'm proud of the way we fought against a big team until the end, especially the young”, Xavi said at his press conference after the match.
We're playing with new guys. Team's new. That's what I mean when I say we're under construction. I think this is the beginning of something big. Whether I'm here or not, Barca has a big future. There's a really good project, not for me as a coach, about a really good generation coming. Cubarsí, Fort, Lamine, Guiu and many other players... Fermín López. I think it's the beginning of something big, but we have to work hard and we have to win. It's about victory at Barca.”, the Spaniard added further.
