Zelensky: Ukraine to launch joint arms production with US

Ukraine and the United States have agreed to launch joint weapons production, a move that will enable Kiev to start producing air defence systems, President Voldymyr Zelensky said, at the conclusion of his US visit. Through a video education, Zelensky said the long-term agreement would create [...] countries.
Through a video education, Zelensky said the long-term deal would create new jobs and a new industrial base in Ukraine, whose economy was destroyed by the Russian invasion, which began last year.
The “visit to Washington was very important that brought very important results”, Zelensky said.
“We will work together to produce necessary weapons together with the United States. Co-production in the defence sector with the US is a historic thing”, the Ukrainian leader added.
Kiev has intensified efforts to increase domestic weapons production after a lot of weapons demand has increased in Ukraine, a state that has been facing an unprotested Russian invasion for 19 months.
Ukrainian president said the Ministry for Strategic Industries, which will oversee production in Ukraine, has signed co-operation agreements with three associations, which include over 2,000 American defence companies.
Ukraine depends heavily on the support that the West sends weapons to him. To reduce this dependence, Zelensky and his team are seeking to make reforms in Ukraine's defence industry, modernise the weapons produced in the state and increase supplies on the front line. / REL
