Albanians rank first for the number of asylum seekers in Great Britain, while citizens from Afghanistan are ranked second with about 10,000 requests.
According to British authorities, 7557 people with Albanian citizenship arrived in England by boat, but that number is lower than the same period in 2022.
Meanwhile, European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) records that in May of this year, 690 asylum applications from Albanian citizens were recorded in European Union countries, of which 531 for the first time.
According to European asylum authorities 3635 requests are pending for review, while during May only 722 verdicts were handed out.
By the decisions given, according to statistics by the European Agency for Asylum, 93% of them were negative and only 7% were positive.
Albanians rank fourth in the number of asylum applications and pending demands in the European Union countries, while Afghan citizens (with around 70 thousand pending applications) stand in the first place, in second place, citizens from Bangladesh, with about 24 thousand expectations and citizens from Algeria with about 5600 pending applications.
Meanwhile by statistics, Albanian citizens are showing an increasingly small advantage to seek asylum in neighbouring Greece, which a few years ago was the country with Albania's largest migration as well as irregular crossings from the green border.
For the six months of 2023, Albanians made up about 5% of the some 5278 irregular entry into Greece of irregular migrants.
Greek Ministry for Migration data speaks that the first six months of 2023, Albanians saw 265 asylum applications, while the recognition rate from the country received marked 0.27%.
However, Albanians continue to make up the largest number of foreigners with allowed regular stays in Greece.
According to Greek Migration Ministry data in June 2023, the number of Albanians with regular permission permits was 286541, representing 60, 1% of regular foreigners from 288 347, which was the number of Albanians with residence permits in June of the previous year and where they made up 61,3, % of regular foreigners.
