On Wednesday, Minister Lieburn Aliu has remained in northern Macedonia. He and Democratic Union for Integration leader Ali Ahmeti have confirmed that the visit was made at the request of Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Both have turned their focus on the Prizren-Tetovo road project.
“Visita has been made at the request of Kosovo's prime minister with the best goal of continuing communication. As has been the case in the past, this communication and co-operation continue with interest for both our countries because any co-operation and strengthening of this co-operation between the countries of the region as with the Republic of Kosovo, as with the Republic of Albania, Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, certainly we are strong investors in the direction of peace, stability, security and the safe future of the region, which not more than 20 years has been troubled in conflicts and wars with grave consequences of”, Ahmeti has declared at the joint media conference with Ali. While Minister Aliu said this road would also link the part of the National Sharr Park in Kosovo with the part of Serbia.
“We just carried out at Prime Minister Albin Kurti's request for the co-operation of both countries, and specifically for the further steps of road realisation linking Tetovo and Prizren, which is the road that has tremendous economic impact on both countries. I want to remind you that this road already has a feasibility study that was carried out by the Republic of Northern Macedonia. We are in the phase of the financial agreement to implement the project, design the joint tunnel, and then move into the full implementation phase of this project. Except that it connects Prizren and Tetovo also links the part of the National Sharr Park in the part of the Republic of Kosovo with the national park on Macedonia's side. The areas have tremendous value and potential economic development through both summer and winter tourism, and this route will create an opportunity to manage the national park and manage tourism development for both countries that could create new opportunities for jobs and economic development”, Aliu said.
