Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and his wife, Sophie Grégire Trudeau, are splitting up, Trudeau reported to his Instagram account on Wednesday.
Trudeau said after <x0.0.25 meaningful and difficult chats” with Sophie, “we made the decision to separate”.
“As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for all that we have built and will continue to build”, he wrote.
He demanded that their privacy be respected for the welfare of their children, writes CNN.
The prime minister's office said the pair had “signed a legal separation agreement”, in a statement Wednesday.
“They have worked to ensure that all legal and ethical steps regarding their decision to separate have been taken and will continue to do so moving forward,” said in the statement.
