On Monday 17 July, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama will host Tirana at a informal meeting of regional leaders, as well as EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Good Neighborship Oliver Varhelyin, Learn Report Tv.

The meeting comes under summit preparations for the Berlin Process, to be held in Tirana on 16 October.

The mediam learns that leaders of the region, Montenegrin Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic, Prime Minister of RMV Dimitar Kovachevski, Bosnia and Herzegovina Council of Ministers head, and Serbia's Ana Brnabiq have confirmed participation in the meeting.

The same sources say it has not yet been confirmed whether Prime Minister Albin Kurti will come to the informal meeting.

This meeting was warned by Edi Rama in the Balkan tour held a few days ago, while at the NATO Summit in Lithuania Rama also confirmed a visit by French President Emmanuel Macron. On December 6, 2022, the Western Balkans and the European Union summit was held in Tirana.

The Berlin Process

The Berlin Process was undertaken in 2014 at the initiative of former German cancellara Angela Merkel, with the goal of connecting and integrating Western Balkan countries before joining the European Union.

The Berlin Process serves as a platform for high-level co-operation between representatives of the so-called Sixth of the Western Balkans, which consists of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Northern Macedonia and Serbia.

The process includes EU institutions, international financial institutions and civil society in the region.

Next summit to be organised in Albanian capital, Tirana on 16 October 2023
