The extreme heat in Italy has prompted suggestions on how to cope with the high temperatures that often endanger people's lives, where it has been compared to the pandemic of Covid-19.
Italian unions require that their employees work from house to house or on reduced days and hours in order to care for their health.
This temperature emergency is putting the production sectors in trouble, where, for the most part, jobs are impossible from home, but even for those unions have called for a solution.
A government agreement between the government and social partners is required to implement a decree that should follow steps implemented during the pandemic period.
The Labour Ministry must reach a joint protocol with social partners, which will take into account work organisation issues, good measures and practices that must be adopted and heat-resistant support equipment.
Unions are putting pressure on the government, under the argument that they cannot tolerate having people die at work from the heat, so an agreement between the government and social partners is urgently needed.
