At the first meeting of the Co-ordination Group for the membership of the Republic of Kosovo in the Council of Europe, Kurti said membership enabled access to the International Court for Human Rights, and this strengthens even more the protection of our citizens indiscretion.
He even expressed confidence that Kosovo has met the legal requirements for becoming a member of the Council of Europe.
“As the oldest Council of Europe organisation like our state embody values in human rights. The Republic of Kosovo is built on the Council of Europe values, as well as the rights of minority communities naturally belong to this organisation”.
This enables access to the court that strengthens even more the protection of our citizens indiscriminately. The Republic of Kosovo has also met the legal requirements to become a member of the Council of Europe”, Kurti said.
Deputy Prime Minister Donika Grovalla said this issue has been taken up intensively and seriously and professionally.
He has demanded that all institutions be engaged in order for membership to take place as soon as possible.
Thanks to the commitment of Deputy Prime Minister Kreshnik Ahmeti I am very convinced that the processes would have lasted longer. It has been taken intensively with membership in the Council of Europe, witnessing an extraordinary seriousness and professionalism”.
Now that the first phase has passed, all will depend on the co-ordination of this group, so I wish that in the institutions that you work to fight in the name of Kosovo, the processes that depend on your institutions to move as fast as possible because the pace with which you co-ordination will depend will be a part of the Council of Europe as soon as you can, Gervalla said.
