Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the head of the Wagner mercenary group, Yevgeny Pigozin, has rejected an offer for his fighters to serve as units in the Russian Army.
Putin announced that many commanders had backed the plan, which would be led by a senior figure in Wagner, during recent talks in Moscow.
He said Prigozhin's response was “The boys disagree with this decision”, the BBC writes.
The talks were held just days after Wagner's interrupted rebellion on June 23rd-24th that challenged Putin's authority.
Under the agreement that ended short - lived rebellion, mercenaries were told that they could join the regular Russian army or go to Belarus.
