During the call, Ukrainian president said the brief rebellion, during which troops from the Wagner Group headed to Moscow, had exposed Vladimir Putin's weakness of rule.
In a statement, Zelensky called for global pressure on Russia to be exerted.
He also said he and the US president had discussed expanding defence co-operation, with emphasis on long-range weapons.
