According to various tourist agencies and ANWB (The Dutch Royal Travel Society), Albania is becoming an increasingly popular holiday destination, writes the renowned Dutch intelligence page rtlniews.nl.
Last year the country was so popular that some travel agencies were packed.
Wladimir Meier of” Albana Travel” says it is difficult to afford the country's demand.
He once started organizing trips to Montenegro and then added Albania.
“People were so satisfied with that region that we decided to offer travel only to Albania,” he told Edith NL.
Meier says he currently sells five times as many trips to that country.
We have a 50 percent increase. The place is definitely on the rise, this year we're totally sold”, Meier points out.
Local tourist operator Isuf Braho from”Vis Albania” is also seeing more and more Dutch people coming to his country.
” We see that the number of Dutch coming to Albania doubles annually”, he told Edith NL.
Many tourists asked how they came to Albania as a destination. They said they had no idea it would have such a profound impact on them”, he points out.
So Braho likes to see the Dutch come.
They're good tourists. We have many mountains and many seas, and this attracts delightful people”, Braho adds.
ANWB also sees a growing interest in Albania as a destination.
According to television expert Ron Vergoween, television programs can make it a popular place because of the way it is portrayed.
“Television is a major holiday guide”, he tells Edith NL.
Everything is filmed so beautifully that no travel brochure can compete with it”, he says.
But not only has the television program played a role.
Meier also sees a peak because of Coddy-19.
“People who went on adventure vacations in Vietnam or Cambodia, for example, are now a little closer to home. More and more people are looking for something different from ordinary destinations and want an authentic experience. You can find this in Albania”, Meier points out.
” Albania is the last country to open after the collapse of the Soviet Union and was considered North Korea and Europe. There are also thought to be criminality, but people returning from vacation from Albania, let us know that they have received a fine”, Meier concludes.
