Mission NATO in Kosovo, KFOR, has said the “remains unclear where the three Kosovo police officers were when” were arrested two days ago. In a media communiqué, KFOR has said it has revised the location of the event and has talked with representatives of Kosovo institutions and the authorities of Serbia.
“Based on available data, it remains unclear where Kosovo police officials were at the moment of arrest”, the report said.
According to KFOR, “in this location, near the Administrative Border Line, both Kosovo institutions and Serbia's authorities have clear responsibilities to co-ordinate with KFOR”.
KFOR has also reminded all sides that the deployment of the Kosovo Security Force in northern Kosovo requires preliminary consent of KFOR Commander”.
“Call on all sides to adhere to agreements and procedures to co-operate with KFOR. We call on both sides to refrain from provocative rhetoric and avoid any unilateral action that could escalate the situation in the area”, KFOR's response said on Friday afternoon.
KFOR has said it will continue to carry out its mandate as the third “regressor based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 in 1999 to ensure secure environment and freedom of movement, for the benefit of all communities in Kosovo”.
