During his visit to the contingent of injured Italian soldiers at the Village Italy Camp in Pec, KFOR commander said they prevented clashes that could lead to civilian casualties.

Be proud of what you did, you acted in full compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 1244, interfering between two opposing sides and preventing a collision that would certainly have led to a large number of civilian victims”, Rictia was quoted as saying.

Injured Italian soldiers will return to Italy for recovery, while most injured Hungarian soldiers have already been transported home and transferred to hospitals. Thirty KFOR soldiers, three of them from firearms, were injured in the clashes.
