Innocent three accused of triple murder in Glodjan

The statement about guilt, the three indictees did it after reading the indictment by prosecutor Sahidee Gashi, reports “Justice bet”.

The three accused were found innocent regarding criminal acts “grave murder”, “grave murder in co-ordination”, “Push into serious murder” and possession without permission.

Later, the chairman of the court, Violet Huja-Rugova, announced the parties' opposition to evidence and the request to drop the indictment on the 30-day deadline.

The initial opening session was held on May 24th, 2023, because defenders of the accused were declared not to possess all statements of witnesses given to the police and prosecutor. For the same reason, though, the initial session was cancelled on June 6, 2023.

Otherwise, the Founding Prosecutor in Pec, on May 5, 2023, at a conference on media, has indicated that in connection with the triple murder on November 26th 2021 in Glodjan, the indictment against Kastriot Mehmetaj for criminal work “grave murder” and Halil Mehmetaj for “Pressing to commit serious murder”.

At that conference, the prosecutor of the case, Sahidé Gashi, indicated that to defendants Malsor Mehmetaj, they have ceased the investigation because it has not been achieved to prove doubt that the same has been involved in this case.

After the investigation, the prosecution today 5 May has filed an indictment at the Criminal Court in Pec against Kastriot Mehmetaj and Kresnik Mehmetaj for criminal offence as co-chairman of the serious murder. We have also filed charges against Halil Mehmetaj for criminal offence in serious murder. After completing all investigations and reviews of all evidence, the prosecution for defendant Malsor Mehmetaj has failed to confirm the suspicion that the same was involved in any way in the crime, so the prosecution has made the decision that against him ceases investigations”, she said.

Prosecutor Gashi has also announced the actions taken in the case investigation.

Because of the severe atmospheric conditions that day and days to follow, the examination of the site of the event by the Forenzice unit has carried out the repair of the crime zone. The dog team has been brought in at night critical, but because of the weather conditions, it has not been possible to trace heads. After gathering all the information, evidence, we have been able to find with credibility that there are no indicators for terrorist attacks, we're dealing with the most likely masked executioners. The target was the bus driver, that we are dealing with a well-planned crime, on the basis of the index as the selection of the site where apart from a small settlement located in the distance of the bus, there is no home; time, winter season, atmospheric conditions; the chief was aware of the bus route; the chief's actions, pretending as a drunk or troubled person, to force the driver to slow down<1>, Gashi said.

In addition, she indicated that 86 people have been prosecuted during the investigation, hundreds of information, over 40 videos from Gjakova to Glodjan, as she added evidence has been sent to Switzerland and Albania.

“Information has been provided from sources abroad, Facebook company and Viber Company in Luxembourg. In the end, we have been able to provide evidence from all investigations where we have built the entire critical night event”, Gashi said.

Otherwise, three people were left dead, and one was injured in the attack by firearms that had taken place on the bus of travelers to Glodjan, Decani, on November 26, 2021.

Two of the dead were students, and the third person was the bus leader. Two weeks after the case, three suspects for this triple murder were initially arrested, while on February 5th of this year the fourth suspect was also arrested.

Otherwise, the Foundation Court in Pec on 12 December 2021 had appointed the detention measure to the three suspects.

In that decision, it said the court estimated there is doubt that the same committed the crimes allegedly committed, that of serious murder and illegal weapons.

According to the court's reasoning, there is the danger of the suspects escaping, affecting witnesses or the injured, hiding evidence, or co-ordinating the defence to make the case public.
