The government expressed satisfaction with the April 23rd elections in the country's north, waiting that they would produce <x0-> exemplary governance”. But they have brought new problems, apparently even a few disputes between Kosovo and the European Union, which consider them “not offering long-term political solutions”. EU Emisari Miroslav Lajcak has expressed concern over the situation, while Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislim has criticised the Union for failing to respond, as he said the past few days had some problems in that part. For the oath of the mayors, which is expected to take place soon, a harsh warning has been made by US Ambassador Jeff Havenier.

No result ended up in the meeting Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi held on Monday in Brussels with Serbian chief negotiator Petar Petkovic, and he did not seem to serve either for the reduction of tensions.

“Situata in the north has not been treated at all today”, Kosovo's chief negotiator said at the end of the day, although European Union Emisari Miroslav Lajcak when he visited Pristina and Belgrade last week, voiced concern about the situation in the north.

The four young Albanian mayors who were elected to lead municipalities in northern Kosovo agree that they will find access to their new offices difficult, as most are located in the facilities of Serb parallel structures.

Access to municipal objects, giving the solemn oath and effective exercise of their mandate are cited as the first obstacles facing leaders who emerged from the April 23rd elections in the north, which were boycotted by the Serb List, the Serb community's largest party in Kosovo.

After meeting with Petkov, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi said Monday they have informed Lajcak of the problems in some parts of the country of that part of the country of a critical dose of EU failure and the work of EULEX, the European Union's mission for Endim of Law in Kosovo.

We've informed Mr. Lajcak for problems that have been met uniformly through several buildings in northern Mitrovica, Zubin Potok, Leposavic and Zvecan, and for which the EU response has been missing. The argument has been that they don't have enough information, but I think this will be resolved very soon after sending information from the Kosovo side because we believe that EULEX is present in Kosovo, it has had to carry all this information to Mr Lajcak”. Bislim said.

The deputy prime minister said he fears that the <x0 message being sent is contrary to what is wanted”.

For as long as we say the inauguration of the mayors can cause tensions, someone can understand that as an invitation to tension. In a way that the invitation that if you want to prevent this, you have to create tensions and we think this is very dangerous and unnecessary at this stage”, Bislim said.

But, for the oath of mayors expected to be held by May 28th, US Ambassador to Pristina Jeff Hovenier has spoken, making it a stern warning.

Any criminal activity aimed at overturning these officials in carrying out their legal responsibilities will face severe condemnation from the United States and the international community” has said Hostier on Wednesday about Telegrafi.

As said by Minister of Management of Local Power Elbert Krasniqi on Friday, it is expected that North Mitrovica Chairman Erden Attic will be sworn in when the other three are sworn in.

The US ambassador has said they should swear in the environments where they are welcome and not necessarily at municipal facilities.

EU concerned

The European Union's special envoy for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, after a meeting with Serb representatives in the north, said he is concerned about what he heard. He had met with Prime Minister Albin Kurti in advance.

“It was important for me to visit Kosovo's north again and to talk to different conversationaries so that I could get the first direct impressions of the current situation. What I heard was disturbing to me. We should avoid any possibility of escalation and full focus on normalisation”, Lajcak wrote on Twitter.

After April 23rd elections in the four northern municipalities, in which the exit was slightly more than 3%, the EU had reacted quickly, saying those “did not offer long-term political solutions”.

This can only happen through the permanent return of Kosovo Serbs to institutions, and for Kosovo to enable their return. Work on establishing the Association of Serb majority municipalities should be finalised as soon as possible”, said in response.

In Belgrade they propagan “confront” at the end of the month

Citing May 28th, the deadline until they can take the oath and take over the new Albanian mayors in the north, Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq has said that “is facing a major crisis”, following meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti at the beginning of the month.

When they realized that it couldn't pass, then they tried to solve the situation in the north rationally, where there's a big crisis coming, because Albin Kurti really thinks he rules 3-4 percent of the vote, and some of the QUINT support them because they think they're going to break the resistance of Serbs, forever, finding those who are going to serve in the north, to rule so...<1>, Vuciq said.

He has cited a proposal that the EU, according to him, had made for overcoming the situation in the north after the elections.

“I accepted, Pristina refused. I think it's very important that we go through that” situation, Vuciq said on May 3rd, adding that he hopes that at the next high-level or technical meeting “there will be reactions from some others that might affect changing such positions”.

A week ago, he talked about the proposal again.

They wanted something to be relative justice, while Borelli tried to explain to Kurt that it doesn't make sense to welcome the 3% citizens' participation because there would be problems. Kurti replied that police will solve this because these are only criminal structures” has said Vuciq.

Waiting for “crisan”, Serbian Defence Minister Milos Vuchevic has propagand on Sunday that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti “is preparing shares to take physically four northern municipalities”.

The Kurti has a plan on May 28th to take those municipalities physically, tear down all Serbian symbols and enter into a confrontation with the absolute majority of the” population, Vuchev said.

The EU has not responded to Gazeta Express's interest in the proposal Vuciq had spoken about.

The last meeting between Kosovo and Serbia did not produce any agreement on the upcoming talks. Bislimi said on Monday that “we have not specified today how it will go beyond”. May 28th, by the time young Albanian mayors in the north have deadlines to take office and take the oath, for Bislit, however, “does not make any date for which we should worry”. /express
