The four young Albanian mayors in municipalities in northern Kosovo agree that they will find access to their new offices difficult, as most are found in the facilities of Serb parallel structures. They still do not know when they will take the oath and take the job.
The four new Albanian mayors in northern Kosovo have acknowledged that access to their offices will be difficult, as they will have to enter the facilities of Serb parallel structures.
Access to municipal objects, giving the solemn oath and effective exercise of their mandate are cited as the first obstacles facing leaders who emerged from the April 23rd elections in the north, which were boycotted by the Serbian List, the Serb community's largest party in Kosovo.
While the new mayors' sworn-in ceremonies are expected in the north, Serbian Defence Minister Milos Vuchevic said that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti “is preparing shares to physically take four northern municipalities from”.
Unfortunately, many people exploit our disaster to increase pressure on us or to achieve their goal of Kosovo being an independent state. Kurti continues to prepare shares to take physically these four municipalities north of Kosovo and is not too shocked by our tragic event, because he sees it as a momentum that gives him some advantage, because here we are again divided”, Vuchevic said on Pink TV.
This, Vuchevic said, shows that Serbia's “expects very difficult days”.
“Kurti has a plan on May 28th to take those municipalities physically, tear down all Serbian symbols and enter into a confrontation with the absolute majority of the” population, Vuchev said.
