According to him, the uncertainty in dialogue with Serbia, as well as the Ohrid Agreement that vowed the status quo on relations between Kosovo and Serbia, is affecting the decline of foreign investments in Kosovo.
No significant external investment has been seen in the past two years, nor does it appear in perspective. A foreign investor who was in the procedure to obtain strategic investor status was rejected by the government, even though the Government's decision was submitted for approval to the Assembly. Not only foreign investment, but neither can local investments have with all this political uncertainty”.
On the other hand, he has added that businesses are not being offered security even in internal economic policies.
“saw no preliminary analysis and no consultation with the business community, the Government made these decisions: (a) changed the tax rates of property, which made them progressive and increased up to triple the tax burden on business property; (b) decided to take over the municipalities to manage economic areas and place those areas under the direct management of a new government agency; and (c) decided to abolish the law on foreign investment and the law on strategic investments. Both of these laws melted under the established investment law, which would greatly damage the positive perception that Kosovo has in defence of foreign investment”.
