Kosovo should suspend its police operations around municipal buildings in the north of the country, as a first step towards reducing tensions, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said.
“Acts of violence against citizens, media, rule forces and KFOR are unacceptable”, Borrell told reporters in Brussels.
“We, like the EU, stand behind NATO and KFOR in fulfilling the mandate, in the interest of peace and stability in Kosovo”, he added.
Borrell said he has talked both with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and with Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, and that he has invited those who “calm the situation immediately and unconditionally”.
He, too, said the EU expects the parties to engage in dialogue and pave the way for implementation of the Agreement towards rating relations.
